About me . . .
Hometown
I'm from Stone Mountain, Georgia in the U.S.A.
Present
I live in Temmabashi in Osaka. I've got a nice, comfortable apartment that is just a few minutes from Osaka Castle.
Teaching
I came to Japan in January, 1993, so I've been here over seventeen years. I can't believe how the time has flown! I taught company lessons my first year, and then taught at a large eikaiwa (English conversation) school for four years, and at a small English conversation school in Osaka from 1997 to 2010. Now I'm freelancing and teaching in several different places.
Interests
I really enjoy teaching English and learning about the language itself. In my spare time I also try to study Japanese, though I should confess that I haven't been the ideal student! I'm interested in all aspects of communication (written, spoken, and nonverbal), culture (American, Japanese, and everywhere in between), and current events. Learning more about all of these areas through my students is one of the best parts of teaching in a foreign country.
A few other things I'm interested in are movies, music, and Indian food.
