A question of March 20, 1999 from a Time lesson student:

"My glasses are in my bag" is correct, isn't it? Or you could also say "My pair of glasses is in my bag," couldn't you?

Both sentences are natural, but I think the first one is preferable to the second. Why? Glasses almost always come in a pair (I can't think of when they don't!), so we don't really need the word "pair." In addition, "my pair of glasses" just sounds awkward to me.
