Time class question about comic book writers:
What is one who writes the story for a comic book called?

I looked at a lot of web sites about comics to try to find the answer to this question. It looks like a writer who write the stories for comic books prefer to be known simply as a writer. One site explained that many writers for comic books also write other kinds of works, such as novels and magazine articles. Another site defined a writer for a comic book as a comic author.

In order to distinguish a writer of stories from a writer of novels, I would use the term comic book writer.

Comic books are usually written by a team of four or five artists. For some comic books, however, one artist may do everything. In that event, the artist is called a cartoonist.
