Quick Glossary (用語辞典)

uncountable = 数えられない

Explanation (説明)

In English, software is known only by its full name. Note that software is an uncountable noun; if you want to count software, you can say "a piece of software." You can also call one piece of software a program or an application.

The actual computer is called hardware. Anything you attach to your computer (such as a scanner or a printer) is called a peripheral, and it is also a piece of hardware.

Extra note: Though soft is not a shortened form of software in English, the word app is used as the shortened form of application.

Examples(例文)
