Explanation (説明)

Smart is used in Japanese to mean "slender" or "thin." In English, smart is usually used when you want to say that someone is intelligent or clever. 


Examples(例文)

Yukiko is quite smart. She figured out how to use her new video camera without reading the user's manual.

Sang Mi says she used to be slender, but she doesn't seem overweight now.


Note that the word smart is sometimes used for fashion: it is used to say that something is fashionable.

Mamiko wore a very smart outfit last week. It was understated, yet quite elegant.
