B. calculation place

C. money registration

Quick Glossary (用語辞典)

suntan lotion = 日焼止めローション

Explanation (説明)

Reji is, of course, the shortened form of the English term cash register, which is also called just register. A register is really the machine in which money is kept, but this word is also used more generally for the place in a store where you pay. The term checkout counter is also used for this area of a store or restaurant.

Examples(例文)

Example 1

Minako: Excuse me. Where can I pay for this?

Clerk: Please pay for it at theregister at the front of the store.

Example 2

Tomoko: Excuse me. Can I pay for this sweater by credit card?

Clerk: Sure. Please take it to checkoutcounter #6.

Tomoko: Thank you very much.

Note: Like many shortened loanwords in Japanese, there is a longer form of reji. In Romaji, it is spelled rejisutaa.
