Quick Glossary (用語辞典)
stable = 安定した
Explanation (説明)
This is a casual expression that means get married. It's an easy one to remember, I think, as the literal meaning of this idiom is very close in meaning to the Japanese word 結ぶ--the kanji for that verb is found in the noun for marriage(結婚).
Examples(例文)
Hiroshi and Yumiko dated for a very long time, but they finally tied the knot last week.
It seems that some men intend to marry but never actually tie the knot.
