Quick Glossary (用語辞典)

day off = 非番の日

Explanation (説明)

This isn't an idiom (as it is not really idiomatic), but I'm including it in this section because I think it is a very common--and thus useful--expression.

A nap is a short sleep, especially one taken in the daytime. A variation of this expression is take a catnap, though I haven't heard this phrase for a long time.

Examples(例文)

I rarely take a nap after lunch on my days off--I'm afraid I'll sleep the afternoon away!

Some researchers believe that taking a nap in the afternoon is completely natural for humans and helps us stay alert and productive later in the day.
