Examples(例文)

This idiom means to get better or recover from some bad situation. It is used when you feel better and are no longer sick, upset, sad, angry, or irritated.

Hank never got over his first love, Blanche. He still thinks about her every day.

 

When Susie's goldfish died she was sad for a long time, but she has finally gotten over it.

(In British English, you could say got over in this sentence instead of gotten over.)

 

When you have gotten over something, you can also just say "I'm over it."

Henry was mad at his boss for a few days, but he's over it now.
