Groups and Uncountable Nouns
When speaking of one thing or person in a group, the group is (of course!) going to be a plural noun.
I met one of my friends yesterday in Umeda.Some of the people at the meeting were very angry.
Some can also be followed by an uncountable noun.
She uses some of her free time to practice piano.
Not Specific
One and some can be used to describe a single thing when we can't or don't want to be specific.
One day I saw a strange light in the sky. (singular)Some man called you last night, but I forgot to ask his name. (singular)
Some can also be used in this way to describe a plural noun.
Some people just called your name from across the street. (plural)
